Reduce consumption at work
Beyond the HOLISTIC Project, everyone can play a part in reducing energy global consumption by applying simple strategies.
Tips for the office
Paper and printing:
- Use recycled paper
- Print on both sides of the pages and, whenever possible, several pages per sheet of paper > make this the default setting on your machine
- Choose the "draft" setting for unofficial prints
- Avoid printing in colour whenever possible
- Save your e-mails electronically instead of printing them out
Energy consumption:
- Turn of your computer and screen if you are not using them for over 30 minutes
- Turn off all switches when you're leaving the office in the evening
- Lower the brightness of your computer screen
Coffee break:
- Turn off the office's coffee maker before leaving
- Make sure waste from commonly used spaces is recycled properly (PET, aluminium, glass, coffee capsules)
- If you need to acquire a new coffee maker, you can check how efficient your chosen model is by going to TopTen.ch.
Coming to work:
- Prefer soft mobility (on foot or by bike) and public transport for your daily commute. Take a look at the "mobility tips" for Neuchâtel !
- Choose car-sharing if you have to use a personal vehicle. You can use the local car-sharing platform: www.neuchatel-covoiturage.ch.
Going further:
Different settings, a clever choice of materials, supporting employees in their use of public transport: all of this can have a significant impact on the use of resources in your company. Why not discuss it with your team?
