Does the HOLISTIC project have an impact on people's habits ?

What are the most efficient measures to change their attitudes ?

These two questions focus on the socio-economical aspects of the HOLISTIC project. A questionnaire was designed to gauge the public's attitude to renewable energy and energy efficiency measures; the effect to which they feel part of the Community; and what changes, if any, in their energy behaviour have been stimulated by living and working in a CONCERTO zone. A first survey was conducted in the community after six months. It forms the baseline against which changes can be measured at the middle and end of the project.

Two further surveys of public opinion will be conducted at later stages of the project culminating in a report that analyses the results of the three surveys, assesses the impact of the HOLISTIC actions on attitudes and behaviours and identifies which measures have been most effective in stimulating positive changes.

The first study was conducted at the end of 2007… the main results in Neuchâtel are:

  • 80% of the surveyed people are not aware of the energy consumption of their dweliing
  • 30% of the surveyed people act on a daily basis to save energy, 59% of them regularly take measures.
