Objective

Individual contribution
Buildings dating from before 1970 tend to be less energy-efficient and are often in need of energy optimisation. However, even in such a building, you can save energy by adapting your habits in terms of heating and ventilation.
Gibraltar 7, 9 & 11: residential buildings
Retrofit of typical 70s buildings, aiming to reach modern energy standards. The retrofit has resulted in energy savings of 41% for Gibraltar 7 and 9, and 57% for Gibraltar 11. Thus, the Energy Performance Index of these buildings is now only slightly above 60kWh/m2/year.
Measures
- 14cm layer of insulation for the attic floor
- peripheral insulation
- replacement of old windows with new triple pane windows
Milestones
The retrofit took place in spring 2010. Most of the work was done on the outside of the buildings so that residents could stay in their apartments during the four months of renovation.
