Objectives

Microcity
Accessible outdoor areas © Bauart
The new microtechnology building will fit perfectly into the Maladière neighbourhood. The outdoor areas will be accessible to the public, and the green roof will be visible from higher points in the city. The building will be more than an urban landmark, as it was designed with particular attention to the rational use of energy. Thanks to geothermal probes, solar panels and an intelligent choice of building materials, Microcity will use considerably less energy than other modern buildings of the same type.
Measures
- rational use of resources (land, energy, water, biodiversity)
- considerable use of renewable energies (geothermal probes for heating and cooling, solar panels)
- decrease of environmental impacts (sustainable mobility, compact building envelope, grey energy)

Milestones
The excavation work on the building site is finished, and construction began on October 11, 2011.
* This building has not been definitively integrated into the Holistic project.
