CampusArc2: last stage of the Ecoparc urban development
A new edifice was built where station storing warehouses used to stand. This construction completed the developement of the Train station/Crêt Taconnet neighbourhood which was initiated at the end of the ‘90s.
The TransEurope building is dedicated to higher education. It was designed according to the Minergie standard. Particular attention was paid to grey energy in materials used for building. What's more, in order to minimize the impact on the environment, life cycle analysis was conducted for a number of elements.
Measures
- Reduction of the thermal energy demand thanks to a well-insulated facade made of prefabricated wood and metal elements
- Installation of triple-pane windows
- Heating and cooling with a field of shallow-depth geothermal probes (30m.)
- Increased valorisation of thermal inertia (no suspended ceilings or services ducts)
- Natural ventilation in summer thanks to carefully placed skylights
- Careful choice of building materials and use of clever construction techniques (for example, acoustic isolation between floor and concrete, no coating)
Milestones
Construction work was finished in September 2011
